On October 10th, 2008, a man from Edmonton named Johnny Altinger was looking forward to meeting up with a woman he met from a website called Plenty of Fish. He was given specific instructions on where to meet her. However, unbeknownst to Johnny, this wasn’t a woman, it was actually a man named Mark Twitchell who was waiting for him. This would be the last time Johnny would be seen alive. But what happened to him and why?

In 1995, within a two-month span, the bodies of three women were discovered in a remote area of British Columbia’s Fraser Valley. All three women were murdered and left in a similar fashion. So similar, that police believed they had a serial killer on their hands. Coined the Hemlock Valley Murders, the mystery surrounding these women’s deaths has puzzled law enforcement for years. Did they have the murderer in their grasp, or did they have it all wrong?

This week, Jarret and Pat are looking into the Banff Springs Hotel and its alleged haunting. The hotel is located inside the Banff National Park in Banff, Alberta, Canada, and is regarded as one of Canada’s most famous hotels. For over 125 years the hotel has welcomed guests from all over the world. Most of the guests have come and gone but some of them haven’t exactly left and may never leave. Due to the sheer number of ghost sightings and encounters reported, this has given the hotel a reputation as being one of the most haunted places in Canada.

In January of 2019, patients were told they had a new or novel brain disease. This occurred in a cluster of individuals exhibiting "similar" signs and symptoms in the eastern province of New Brunswick, Canada. The symptoms fell under the umbrella of dementia and prion disease but were tested and determined not to be either. Was this a new brain disease or was something else to blame? And why was the investigation shut down so abruptly?

Our story tonight takes place in Montreal, Quebec. More specifically, Montreal's Hotel Bonaventure. Regarded as one of the city's most prestigious hotels, it takes up the top two floors of one of the city’s biggest convention centers, the 17 storey Place Bonaventure. The hotel contains 397 spacious rooms but what sets it apart from other hotels, is the year-round heated rooftop pool, the 2.5-acre rooftop garden complete with trees, flowers and if the pool wasn't enough there are also waterfalls and a jacuzzi. While this might seem like an oasis or a paradise full of relaxation, on November 7, 1990, Hotel Bonaventure was anything but that. That night, the hotel was the scene of one of Canada’s most peculiar UFO sightings.

In this week's show, I am joined by a special guest and we are looking at the Babes in the Woods unsolved murder case. A garden caretaker of Stanley Park in Vancouver, British Columbia, was clearing brush deep in the woods near Beaver Lake when he heard and felt something crunch under his foot. He dug beneath the brush and cleared out decaying leaves to reveal human bones embedded in the earth. These murders have gone unsolved for over 70 years but in 2021, there was a break-through in case.

This week's episode is going to be a little different, rooted more in history but with some interesting speculation. We are going to explore the mysterious and haunted walls of Tranquille Sanatorium in Kamloops, British Columbia. Opening in 1907 and closing in 1991, it has changed faces many times from a hospital for treating tuberculosis, to a hospital for people with mental illness. Since it has been closed down, some people believe it to be haunted by the ghosts of people who passed away at the hospital.

In Vancouver, British Columbia. 65 women went missing from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, between the years 1978 and 2001, probably more that weren’t ever reported. Of that 65, 26 were found to have been murdered. These murders led to Canada's largest investigation of serial killer Robert Pickton. He was a pig farmer living in a small town in Vancouver. Somehow, he was able to get away with murdering these women without neighbors or authorities realizing. Or did they?
